Is it IT's Job to hold hands for Non-IT workers? Software.I cannot see any errors in event viewer, or when looking at the history tab in task scheduler. So i guess to the untrained eye, everything looks to be working, but clearly it isn't.

obviously you need to run a web browser when access google drive on the net, but this is done from a remote PC so that's fine as well.Īlso, maybe something to note is that when I have started the google backup and sync program via Task Scheduler, and or NSSM I can see the process is running, but there is no sync going on I then went and followed my documentation to the letter on a customers PC (created a new gmail account and so forth) and now it doesn't work :-(Īs for not being "able to assign one google account to this application" isn't the application irrelevant?Īs for not having the vocabulary, don't stress, my jibberish is not any better and I do appreciate you trying to help.Īlso, I am only using the one google account, and not sure why html/html-5 would come into it as Backup and Sync is a program that runs fine on a "traditional" desktop setup, even if you never open chrome. I had to use those 3 pc's for testing something else so I re-imaged them. and when I say documented, I mean I had the steps written in notepad :-) (nothing fancy here)

I documented how i got it working using google backup and sync with windows task scheduler (task schedule to start the google back up and sync program/process). I actually had this working on 3 test PC's so all 3 PC's where syncing. When a file is deleted of the production PC it is also deleted from the web folder. This way a remote user can add files to the "web folder" and they are then automatically "synced" / "downloaded" to the production PC. TO be clear, I am trying to Sync the local folder with the online google drive / backup and sync folder. I thought google backup and sync was hte same thing? What do you mean by "tried using sync and not backup?" It is only when i replace the windows shell that the task scheduler and nssm solution does not work. When i boot into windows using the explorer shell, backup and sync works fine when I have disabled auto start backup and sync and start backup and sync via the task schedule. Using your workaround would not work in this instance as the files need to sync on the fly for a specific folder accessed by our program. The local user account being used has admin rights.

if the account has a password, you still need to login, however if you run the user accounts gui and uncheck "Users must enter a username and password to use this computer" and enter the username and password of a local user account at the pop up box / dialogue box then the computer logs straight in with the local user account credentials. The local user account is still needed to login.

You cannot hit the windows button for instance and see the start s a bit like kiosk mode i guess. When windows starts, the desktop, taskbar etc etc, is not loaded. We replace the windows shell (explorer.exe) with out own application. There seem to be more guides to do this with dropbox, but unfortunately for the time being i need to use google backup and sync.Īgain, any help would be greatly appreciated. "Show File sync status icons and right click menu:Īlthough for the above 3 i tried different variations, and it made no difference. Removing Items was set to "Remove Items Everywhere"Īnd under settings, I unchecked "Show Warning when you remove items from a shared folder" I logged on and changed the default drive location to my desired folder during setup, and unchecked the other parts to sync (Desktop, Documents, Pictures) Not sure exactly what info to provide, but basically i have installed google backup and sync (lets just call it "drive" for the time being.) I am at a loss to work this damn thing out. I have also tried setting up Backup and Sync to run via windows task scheduler, but again, this is not working either. I just did a basic type of setup, although as the local user account does not have a password, i set the service to use hte local system account. I can create a service using nssm and I can see it is running, but the files in my google drive do not sync. I have been looking over the net to try and work this out, but have not had any luck.

I am now trying to get Google Backup and Sync to run as a service, however it is not working. On a computer in our office, we have replaqced the windows shell with an application.
